The UK ETA is the Electronic Travel Authorisation now required of most visa-exempt visitors before they board for Britain. It links to the passport used to apply, stays valid for multiple trips over roughly two years or until that passport expires, and the government's own portal charges its own fee — file yours early and travel already holding the confirmation Border Force may ask to see.
